Toothpaste

Sessions that feel like the bottom of the toothpaste tube, where you try to squeeze more out of it than there is available. At least it felt like the season has arrived, waves that require a deeper duckdive, a horizon that moves with forthcoming impact. Soon the first seriously good evening session will be here, colored in fall's light with winter power.

Progress of the Ooligan.

Got a voice mail from Eli..... he made it to Florence. The highlight of the section was being hounded by a posse of hundreds of sealions off of the Caves area of that famed section of the coast. It was nerve wracking and compounded by a fog and a rising swell that left him completely disoriented as he was unable to see land.

He is leaving from Coos Bay to make a final run to Brookings that he figures should take him a week or so.

The drop

It won't be long before the fall drops start and then all the short wide boarders will look to narrow their choices so to speak. The Kiwi up reef of the crowds where it's ledgier and suckier and the pictures don't do it justice.

Kiwi still setting a rail.....

Some of you knew the Kiwi when he lived here. Here he is in the above pic pulling a line at Uluwatu in 1979 and below he's back there some 30 years later none the worse for wear after a lifetime chasing waves.

Just for your stoke level he is riding a 6'7"X18.5X2.25 after giving up his beloved longboards. Bloody oath, who woulda thunk it?

Tuna time!

"What do they look like when they come out of the water?"
"Like mirrors, bright blue shiny mirrors...." came his answer.
