Starving

Across the log laden with wildflowers and through the marsh onto the mud flats takes you to dinner. Clams just below the surface and a plateful with a little digging work should see your appetite sated.

I wondered how Lewis and Clark could possibly have gone wanting when they were stuck in Astoria, Indians must have been working the shoreline constantly food was literally squishing between the toes. Here we do it as side work to getting food from stores, then they were working everyday to get they needed to eat. The evidence in empty shells and the middens should have been overwhelming.

Twin and I got down and dirty in the mud as we sought an accompaniment to the elk burgers for tonight's dinner.

Glass offs

Little flutters of swell pulse, show then disappear and the only clue is the degree of south from hour to hour as it shifts between hit and miss..... You can see the surf build and come back three hours later to a lake....

More bass and a cabezon....

A curious wind

White rain of feathers off the rock,
into a clear blue surface.
Where red tails of jellies entangled,
into feet hanging down.

Another surf report from there.......

One more emailed surf report to make this officially one of the slowest springs in a few......

"we've got a strong south rolling - winds are strong trade, so hvy sideshore at D.......house was well overhead, thick and chunky with a lot of warble, surfed with just two guys...made some, got launched and beat on by a couple.. half a mile away around the corner, W.......... was offshore, absolutely packed and peeling like flawless Malibu.

supposed to get double overhead plus starting tuesday and slowly decrease into the weekend, peak of the swell should fire up all the crazy good waves like R.. B's, which are more tucked away from the wind..plan on some after work sessions with my semi.."

There were small waves here so we went fishing instead.....

Long and bumpy ride out past Stonewall on Steven's dory..........
Loads of halibut, we only fished for a little over a half hour or so.

They eat some scary looking stuff..........

Beach rig.

Think this rig is the same model as the one owned by Jonas as featured on "Six foot and perfect". I know for sure it's the same colour blue.
