Surf??? What surf!?

The Mendocino Ridge is upon us like a spring plague, relentless and unending. Three weeks ago the forecast was for a strong northwesterly blow to occur, it did not and I rejoiced in the ineptitude of forecasters. Alas it was coming, just not on their timetable. Two weeks have elapsed and every day it has blown out the beachies and quashed any hope of a late season south swell, there seems to be more left in the gulf chute too and it may be days before we get a change.

Surf on the north shore, surf in California. Here it's 340 degrees out of the north, running away down the beach and craaaap! The water temp off the mouth of the river reads 47 while the river itself is a balmy 65, WTF? It's offshore in some protected spots, but no west swells on tap to force a little size into those pockets.

But there are other things to do......

did you pick those or buy them?

I'm presuming they're to cook and not magic in any way :-)

Picked 'em Nurse and there's more left on the hill for the crabcakes being made...;-).

No not the magics, these are chanterelles, you guys get that type? Common to Europe and here.
